Double Bookkeeping
This is sample description or summary of a page
i think itâd be easier to understand double bookkeeping if people more often talked about the difference between knowing something and believing it. - you can know your friends love you, but not believe it. - you can know nobody is spying on you, but not believe it. - you can know you donât have to be perfect, but not believe it. - you can know your thoughts wonât affect reality, but not believe it. knowing that your belief is false doesnât always mean you stop believing it.
If I wasnât actually studying accounting, I donât think I would have looked twice at this post about double bookkeeping, but I was sufficiently confused that I looked up the term in the context of the post.
As far as I can tell, it means being able to recognize the experience of two overlapping ârealitiesâ - the shared reality and the stuff you know the people around you arenât experiencing but you are anyway - and manage to go about your day for the most part doing the necessary interaction with the shared reality to function in society.
